Titan Improved Safety

Visibility is improved and safety is enhanced by the combination of a large front windshield, oversized side safety windows, and compound-view side mirrors. Braking performance has also been improved and both driver and passenger seats are equipped with supplemental restraint system (SRS) airbags.
(1) Excellent Field of View
- The large front windshield and oversized side safety windows have been enlarged to provide an even better view of the area in front of and at the sides of the cab.
- All models are equipped with compound-view side mirrors. The upper and lower portions of the mirrors have different curve ratios, thereby providing a wider viewing angle to the rear. The mirrored surface is treated to be water repellant for improved visibility when it is raining.
- The windshield wipers feature built-in sprayer nozzles, and the blades have been lengthened to cover a wider area.
- The multi-reflector headlights ensure improved visibility at night.
(2) Improved Braking Performance
- On wide cabin models with cargo capacities between 3.5 and 4.25 tons (excluding full-wide-low and automatic transmission models), the rear brakes are operated by independent hydraulic units, and the hybrid brake system provides tangible feedback when depressing the brake pedal.
- Truck models with cargo capacities between 2.0 and 4.25 tons are equipped with "start assist" (for easier starting on inclines). It maintains braking power after the brake pedal has been released.
- The front ventilated disk brakes previously used on some truck models are now featured on all wide-low and full-wide-low models with two-ton cargo capacity.
(3) Attention to Collision Safety
- The body construction features a closed-cross-section frame below the floor panel to prevent crumpling of the cabin and the preserve the passenger area in the event of a head-on collision. All models are also equipped with side impact beams inside the front doors.
- A driver's side SRS airbag system is standard equipment on custom specification standard body and standard cabin models with cargo capacities between 1.5 and 2.0 tons. It is available as an option on standard and deluxe specification models. A passenger side SRS airbag system is also available as an option on custom specification models.
- All models are equipped with impact-absorbing steering wheels and steering shafts designed to reduce the force of impact on the driver's head and chest in the event of a collision.
